Jan Zachry, Chief Operations Executive, Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas
Innovation in Sustainable Healthcare: In addition to her role as Chief Operations Executive for Scripps Memorial Hospital in Encinitas, Jan has dedicated much of her career providing sustainable medical care to people living in remote, third world countries and those devastated by natural disasters. As a member of the Scripps Medical Response Team, Jan traveled to Nepal following the earthquake in 2015. Over the course of three weeks, the team provided healthcare and comfort to over 2,200 Nepalese people. In January of 2018, Jan traveled to Kenya with Kenya Project Hope Core to instruct children and adults on disease prevention, and learn more about sustainable healthcare practices. Learn how serving others with empathy and compassion is critical to living a fulfilled life. |

Martin Cooper, Co-Founder and Chairman of Dyna LLC
Mr. Cooper, recognized as the "father of the cell phone," is a pioneer and visionary in the wireless communications industry. As an engineer and innovator in radio spectrum management, Martin holds 11 patents. In 1973, Martin invented the first handheld cellular mobile phone, the DynaTAC 8000x, and led the 10-year process to bring it to market. He is cited as the first person in history to make a handheld cellular phone call in public. In addition to serving as the Co-Founder and Chairman of Dyna LLC, Mr. Cooper, a resident of Del Mar, also sits on committees supporting the U.S. Federal Communications Commission and the United States Department of Commerce. Learn how his desire to bring the freedom of anytime and anywhere telephony to the lives of people, led to innovation in human communication.
